Expert mobile app
Role: lead designer

Situation
Atheneum, a platform connecting organisations with global experts, needed to improve the expert application experience on mobile. The existing process wasn’t user-friendly, leading to drop-offs and slow application times.
Task
Our goal was to streamline the application process and make it easier for experts to apply for projects on the go, through the launch of a dedicated mobile app.
Project success
✅ Released and available in app stores.
✅ Application time reduced by 50% (3 mins on mobile vs. 6 mins on web).
✅ Nearly 40k users and growing.
Action
I partnered with the project manager to map the full expert journey, created low and high-fidelity wireframes in Figma, led user testing to validate navigation and task flows, and iterated based on feedback, focusing on improving availability input and addressing key usability pain points.
Result
The app received positive feedback, especially for its streamlined navigation and simplified availability selection. A controlled release showed experts preferred the mobile experience over web, although some areas, like screening questions and calendar sync, needed further refinement.
Outcome
The app's launch was a success. Experts were able to easily discover and apply for relevant projects, and adoption exceeded early expectations.
Personal highlights
Led the design process from discovery to delivery.
Ran early and late-stage user testing with experts across North America, Central America, and Europe.
Gained a deeper appreciation for the value of robust QA in reducing rollout friction.
